Red Bull Pay Tribute to Skiing Legend, Lindsey Vonn, Through Illustrative Zine
Lindsey Vonn is, undoubtedly, one of the greatest Alpine skiers of our generation. An Olympic gold medalist and four times World Cup overall title winner, the former American alpine skier is a force to be reckoned with on the slopes. Earlier this year the ice queen hung up her skis and retired, leaving behind a remarkable legacy. To honour Vonn’s incredible career, Red Bull, recently enlisted twelve artists - each with their own story of perseverance, setbacks, and success - to highlight the skier’s astounding achievements through a variety of creative expressions such as illustration, graphic design, collage, poetry, and lettering.
By clubbing together and collaborating on this unique project, these twelve creatives have produced a series of stunning artworks. Each piece is inspired by a different aspect of Vonn’s career journey and presented in the form of a sixteen page special edition zine, which will be included in Red Bull’s magazine, The Red Bulletin, in its June issue.
Featured artists include the creative director duo Amy and Jennifer Hood, Brooklyn-based illustrator Cari Vander Yacht, multidisciplinary designer Winston Elliott, Marvel artist and comic book illustrator Jen Bartel, Chicago-based lettering artist Ade Hogue, and LA-based illustrators Em Steel and Stacey Rozich.
This zine certainly is a stunning piece of work which celebrates Lindsey Vonn’s stellar career. It’s quirky, colourful, and empowering to young aspiring athletes around the globe.
